We are seeking a Senior Java Engineer to lead the design and development of a global investment bank's data platform.

This initiative is central to their digital transformation, enabling both traditional and AI-driven systems to operate
on a unified, scalable data foundation.

This role offers the opportunity to tackle both foundational engineering challenges and cutting-edge data and  AI  integrations within the fast-paced, highly regulated Capital Markets environment.

This position is hybrid and requires 3 days a week in the NY metro office. Not open to C2C.

Responsibilities

    • Architect and develop scalable, event-driven services and APIs using Java, Spring Boot, and AWS.
    • Design and implement data ingestion, transformation, and distribution pipelines leveraging Kafka and other streaming technologies.
    • Build and optimize a shared data platform that serves as the backbone for multiple front-end applications and analytical tools.
    • Collaborate cross-functionally with data scientists, ML engineers, and product teams to integrate models and insights into production systems.
    • Ensure performance, scalability, security, and compliance across distributed, cloud-native environments.
    • Drive engineering excellence through best practices in code quality, testing, DevOps, and CI/CD automation.
    • Contribute to the platform roadmap, identifying opportunities for modernization, AI enablement, and business impact.
    • Partner with Capital Markets technology teams to align data services with trading, risk, and regulatory reporting workflows.

Required Experience

    • 10+ years of software engineering experience, with strong expertise in Java (Spring Boot) for enterprise or cloud-based systems.
    • Background in Capital Markets or Financial Services, ideally with exposure to trade lifecycle, market data, risk, or analytics platforms.
    • Proven experience designing data-centric or distributed platforms that serve multiple applications or domains.
    • Solid understanding of Kafka and event-driven architectures for high-throughput, real-time data processing.
    • Experience with AWS services (EC2, Lambda, S3, ECS, RDS, etc.) and infrastructure-as-code (CloudFormation, Terraform).
    • Strong grounding in microservices, API design, and system integration patterns.
    • Experience with machine learning and AI model integration in production systems is a plus.
    • Excellent communication, problem-solving, and collaboration skills, with the ability to operate across technical and business teams.
$70,000 - $200,000 a year
Actual compensation may vary based on factors such as role, work experience, education and training, skill level, market conditions, and the candidate's geographic location.
