Description Location: Los Angeles, California Salary: $88,000 annually Classification: Exempt, Full-time Organization Overview Founded in 2004, Brilliant Corners provides innovative housing and housing-related services to Californiaâs most vulnerable individuals, with an emphasis on those transitioning from, or at risk of, homelessness or institutionalization. We develop, own, and manage multi-family supportive housing and licensed residential care homes. We implement a broad array of scattered-site, one-on-one supportive housing, and clinical case management programs through partnerships with developmental services, homeless services, veteransâ services, and health care sectors. Position Summary Brilliant Corners is seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Senior Accountant to lead and support a team of Staff Accountants in Accounts Payable. This role is critical to ensuring timely, accurate, and compliant financial operations across the organization. The Senior Accountant will oversee daily transactional accounting, high-volume accounts payable, reconciliations, month-end and year-end close processes, and compliance with nonprofit accounting standards. This position will work cross-functionally with program, finance, and operations teams to support organizational objectives while developing strong internal controls and process improvements. Key Responsibilities Supervise, coach, and develop Staff Accountants, including workflow management, training, and performance evaluations Oversee and review high-volume accounts payable processing, ensuring invoices are properly approved, coded, and paid accurately and on time (checks, ACH, and wires) Maintain oversight of vendor setup, W-9 collection, and resolution of discrepancies in coordination with internal departments and vendors Manage daily and monthly financial operations, including rent roll processing, bank reconciliations, and accruals Lead and coordinate monthly and year-end close processes and support external audit and 1099 preparation Ensure compliance with GAAP, nonprofit regulations, and funder/donor reporting requirements Collaborate with program teams and Finance leadership to support budgeting, forecasting, and funder reporting Identify and implement process improvements to streamline operations and strengthen internal controls Utilize and help optimize systems including Sage Intacct (ERP), Paycom (HR/payroll), Lattice (performance management), and Salesforce (program tracking) Support special projects and perform other duties as assigned by the Accounting Manager Requirements Qualifications Bachelorâs Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required Minimum of 5 years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 1â2 years in a supervisory role Experience in nonprofit or housing sectors strongly preferred Deep understanding of GAAP, fund accounting, and nonprofit compliance standards Hands-on experience with Sage Intacct , Salesforce , Paycom , and Lattice , or similar platforms Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (e.g., pivot tables, lookups, formulas) Excellent attention to detail, with strong organizational and analytical skills Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a high-volume, fast-paced environment Strong interpersonal and communication skills; ability to collaborate across teams and with external partners Work Environment & Schedule This position is in-office at the discretion of leadership and may require up to five days per week onsite Occasional driving may be required for check distribution or other duties (valid driver's license required) Knowledge, Skills and Abilities ⢠LANGUAGE SKILLS - Strong verbal and written communication skills. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common technical publications, government contracts, leases, regulatory documents, financial reports, and legal documents. Ability to write reports that conform to prescribed style and format. Ability to effectively present information to top management, boards of directors, and public groups. ⢠MATHEMATICAL SKILLS - Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as interest, proportions, percentages, and area. Ability to apply basic math and geometry concepts to practical situations. Facility with Microsoft Excel and ability to use a financial calculator. ⢠REASONING ABILITY - Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical, diagram, and written form and to deal with multiple abstract and concrete variables. Certificates, Licenses, and Registration A valid, clean CA driverâs license and a personal insured vehicle preferred. Physical Requirements Candidates should have physical mobility for tasks such as standing, bending, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, twisting, and walking on uneven surfaces. They should be capable of performing stationary tasks like sitting for up to 6 to 8 hours a day. Additionally, candidates should be able to lift, carry, push, pull light to moderate weights up to 15 pounds safely. Requires mental acuity for analytical reasoning and document interpretation. This position is being offered at $88,000 annually.
