Duties: Collaborate closely within a cross-functional agile team composed of product designers, developers, and testers to deliver features and functionality that meet business and product goals. Design, build, and test high performance, distributed components in problem areas including but not limited to data aggregation/transformation/reporting and large-scale computations for a collaborative multi-user application. Act as a core maintainer of Schrödinger’s Kafka data streaming pipeline, ensuring that data streaming remains stable and performant across a wide range of environments. Take ownership of large areas of Schrödinger’s data processing platform, working independently to build major new features. Research and implement new technologies to solve novel problems. Take a lead role in improving Schrödinger’s testing framework, including designing and building new performance tests, improving regression testing, and visualizing/monitoring results.


Requirements: Master’s (or foreign equivalent) in Computer Science or a closely related field plus 3 years of experience (or a Bachelor’s degree in the same field plus 5 years of experience) as a Software Developer/Engineer, Computer Programmer or closely related occupation. Must have at least 3 years of experience with relational or non-relational databases; high performance scalable/redundant/high volume systems; & microservices architecture. Must have at least 2 years of experience with Kafka; Kafka Connect + Debezium. Must have at least 1 year of experience with Spring Cloud Stream; Strimzi Kafka operator; Locust; Jenkins; Kubernetes running on a cloud platform (e.g. Google Kubernetes Engine, Amazon Elastic Kubernetes Service); Tilt; Helm; Testing data generation at scale; & data visualization/plotting software (Gnuplot, matplotlib). May work from home but must be able to report to New York, New York office at least 2 days per week. Salary is $174,600 to $201,300 per year.
