The Role

Bottomline is looking for a Senior Database Engineer to grow with us either in a Hybrid work environment out of our Portsmouth NH office or fully remote!

We are the Central database team supporting all our Product lines focusing on Database availability (uptime), performance, and data protection. This role is for someone who has hands on experience with relational databases and is well versed with all aspects of Database engineering including but not limited to Database provisioning, performance tuning, Backup and recovery, replication, and encryption.

 

This role includes on-call support for just one week every 3 weeks.

Person must be comfortable working Eastern Time Zone hours

 

How you’ll contribute:

  • Proactively identify and resolve system availability, performance concerns as well as ensure system security.
  • Create and maintain backup/restore, encryption and replication strategies between various database environments.
  • Participate in and influence the design, planning and implementation of projects and initiatives regarding database architecture.
  • Translate business requirements into database strategies and initiatives and drive the execution. Influence business stakeholders.

  • Shows pride in the quality of work being done.Understands, follows, and contributes to the refinement of team processes.

 

What will make you successful: 

  • Ten or more years of direct experience working as an Oracle Database Administrator.
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Systems, Engineering, or relevant experience.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience with automation and configuration management tools.
  • Experience with performance tuning utilizing indexes, disk and query optimizations, and other methods.
  • Experience with database security, replication and failover mechanisms.
  • Experience with encryption methodologies for databases.
  • Experience with database clustering techniques.
  • Experience with Oracle databases and supplemental technologies.
  • Good to have experience with Postgres.
