Description About Sankofa Montessori Sankofa Montessori embarked on its educational journey as a public charter school, receiving its charter from the Georgia State Charter School Commission in 2021. We officially opened our doors in July 2023, starting our adventure with Kindergarten, 1st, and 2nd grades. As we chart our course, we added a 3rd grade in our second year, added a 4th grade in our third year, and will be adding 5th grade during the upcoming school year, school year 26-27. Start Date: January 2026 Location: 5881 Phillips Drive, Forest Park, GA, 30297 Requirements Services The Contractor will support school staff and leadership by designing, reinforcing, and coaching staff on systems and structures that promote strong schoolwide norms, effective behavior management, and consistent staff development aligned with Montessori philosophy and Sankofa’s core values. This includes integrating Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS), Second Step SEL, and Grace & Courtesy through the Flight Foundation framework, with a focus on building a sustainable and inclusive environment where staff collaboration can thrive. Services will include: Professional Development ● Collaborate with leadership to design and facilitate PD sessions on classroom management and schoolwide behavior expectations ● Observe classrooms and provide feedback related to instructional readiness and environment setup ● Support staff with developing norms and strategies to reinforce student self-regulation and independence Behavior and Norm Tracking Systems ● Develop documentation systems for behavior incidents, referrals, restorative interventions, and discipline trends ● Train staff on consistent tracking procedures and provide coaching to interpret behavior data for planning Schoolwide Norms and Expectations ● Design systems for staff-led community-building events, shared classroom routines, and aligned expectations across grade levels ● Ensure materials and tools support clear and consistent implementation of clear and aligned staff systems consistent with Montessori practices Collaboration and Coaching ● Partner with instructional leadership and staff to co-observe classrooms and implement solutions for recurring issues ● Serve as a thought partner to ensure alignment between classroom structures, schoolwide expectations, and schoolwide needs QUALIFICATIONS For this position, we’re looking for candidates that possess a combination of the following skills: Bachelor's degree (required) Instructional coaching experience is required Substantial effective teaching experience Record of producing dramatic, demonstrable student achievement gains Ability to lead, influence, and hold others accountable to high standards of academic excellence Strong learning orientation and desire to work in a fast-paced, dynamic work environment Experience in a public or charter Montessori school environment Can complete physical demands of the role (including standing and walking for extended periods of time and lifting heavy objects up to 40Ibs) Unwavering commitment to Sankofa Montessori’s mission Successful background check results required Benefits COMPENSATION In full consideration of all services performed by the Contractor as described in this agreement, Sankofa Montessori shall pay the Contractor a flat rate between $1,000 - $1,500 per week (depending on years of experience). The Contractor is considered a non-employee for tax, unemployment insurance, disability insurance, and worker’s compensation insurance purposes, as well as for any Family and Medical Leave or other benefits. Contractor is not eligible for overtime pay. Should Contractor need to travel to fulfill responsibilities, Sankofa Montessori will not be responsible for travel costs.
