At Brumley Law Firm, we are dedicated to helping injury victims reclaim their lives through compassionate legal advocacy. Based in Kent and serving communities across Western Washington, including Seattle, Tacoma, Puyallup, Lynnwood, and Olympia, our firm practices personal injury law with integrity, precision, and a client‑first approach. As our team grows, we’re looking for an HR Manager who will ensure our internal operations reflect the same compassion, excellence, and teamwork we promise our clients.

In this role, you won’t merely manage hiring and policies, you will shape the culture and systems that support our people and our mission. You’ll lead full‑cycle recruitment, onboarding, performance management, benefits administration, and engagement initiatives, creating a workplace where every team member feels valued and empowered. You’ll work closely with the leadership team to refine our HR processes, track key workforce metrics, and build a strong foundation that allows our attorneys and staff to focus fully on client service and results.

What you’ll do:

  • Recruitment & Onboarding: Develop and implement effective recruiting strategies to attract top legal and administrative talent. Manage full-cycle recruitment, including job postings, interviews, background checks, and hiring coordination. Oversee new hire orientation, onboarding, and integration programs to ensure a seamless start. Maintain consistent communication with new employees during 14-, 30-, 60-, and 90-day check-ins to support engagement and retention.
  • Employee Relations & Engagement: Serve as the main HR point of contact for all staff, ensuring employee concerns are addressed with professionalism and confidentiality. Foster a positive workplace culture that promotes collaboration, accountability, and open communication. Conduct regular employee check-ins, lead retention initiatives, and coordinate staff appreciation events, firmwide meetings, and culture-building programs aligned with the firm’s values.
  • Performance Management & Development: Partner with leadership to establish clear performance metrics, conduct reviews, and support goal-setting and feedback processes. Provide coaching to supervisors on employee development and corrective action. Identify training needs and coordinate professional development, mentorship, and continuing education initiatives that promote career growth.
  • Benefits, Compensation & Compliance: Administer employee benefits, leave programs, and 401(k) plans, and serve as liaison with benefit providers and payroll partners. Maintain accurate HR and payroll records while ensuring compliance with federal and Washington State employment laws. Develop, update, and communicate HR policies, handbooks, and procedures. Stay current on employment regulations, providing leadership with guidance on compliance and best practices.
  • HR Strategy & Leadership: Collaborate with firm leadership on workforce planning, retention strategies, and organizational development. Analyze HR data such as time-to-fill, retention, and employee satisfaction to inform decision-making. Support diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives across the firm and lead HR audits, compliance reviews, and internal investigations as needed.
  • HR Operations & Reporting: Maintain and manage HRIS systems, ensure CLE and training compliance for attorneys and staff, and oversee updates to the employee handbook and policy documentation. Conduct periodic audits and provide accurate HR reporting to support firm operations and strategic planning.

What we’re looking for:

  • Experience: Minimum 2–5 years in HR or people operations, ideally in a professional services or legal environment, with experience managing HR functions and driving process improvements.
  • Strategic & Analytical Thinking: Strong ability to interpret HR data, identify trends, and implement strategic initiatives that improve talent acquisition, retention, and engagement. Skilled in developing data-driven solutions to support firm growth and culture.
  • Technical Proficiency: Proficient in HRIS and ATS systems, with strong Microsoft Office skills and comfort implementing technology solutions that streamline HR workflows. Experienced in benefits administration, employment law compliance, and HR best practices.
  • Leadership & Communication: Excellent interpersonal, coaching, and leadership skills. Able to manage diverse teams, provide constructive feedback, and foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and professional growth. Builds trust through clear, empathetic, and transparent communication.
  • Culture & Fit: Aligns with Brumley Law Firm’s core values, integrity, client-first service, compassion, and excellence. Thrives in a mission-driven, dynamic environment and serves as a trusted partner in organizational change.
  • Preferred Qualifications: PHR, SPHR, or SHRM-CP/SHRM-SCP certification. Experience working in a law firm or professional services environment. Familiarity with Washington State employment laws, benefits, and leave administration requirements.

Why you should work here:

  • Mission‑Driven Firm: Join a team dedicated to making a meaningful difference for clients who have been hurt by negligence, working with a firm that values service, empathy, and results.
  • Visible Impact & Growth: This is an opportunity to build and shape HR systems from the ground up in a high‑growth environment. Your work will directly influence our people and our future.
  • Positive and Collaborative Culture: At Brumley Law Firm, culture matters; you’ll be part of a supportive, professional, and client‑oriented team.
  • Professional Development: With multiple offices across Western Washington and new locations coming, you’ll have room to grow and influence the firm’s evolution.

Additional perks:

  • Compensation: Competitive salary aligned with experience.
  • Benefits: Medical, dental, and vision insurance; 401(k) plan available; PTO and holidays.
  • Location: Kent, WA.

Your leadership will influence how the firm attracts top talent, nurtures development, and builds a cohesive, values-driven team.
