The ACLU seeks an Undergraduate Digital Funding intern in the Development Department of the ACLU’s National office in New York City. This internship is fully remote.

Qualifying applicants must currently be matriculated undergraduate students and must be based in the U.S. for the entire duration of the internship.

The Team:

The mission of the ACLU’s Development Department is to unlock the full potential of donors and the ACLU as partners in the creation of a more perfect union. We pursue our mission by building long-term donor relationships and organizational partnerships. We demonstrate impact in response to threats, by engaging donors on how they wish to engage. We take interest in our donors and facilitate personal action, by being accountable stewards of their funds, and by asking donors to consider giving their full support to the ACLU.

What You’ll Do:

This internship will be an introduction to digital direct response marketing in a large-scale, fast-paced environment. Reporting to the Associate Manager of Digital Production, the intern will learn about and provide support to the Nationwide Membership team’s digital campaign production, including emails and peer-to-peer text messages for ACLU mass market, monthly, midlevel, and major donors and prospects. The internship will culminate in a capstone project of leading an email campaign from conception through execution.

The intern will also gain exposure to the ACLU’s broader fundraising team (national office and affiliate offices), editorial, marketing, and digital communication teams with time dedicated to professional development. To be successful in this role, the intern must be able to collaborate and communicate effectively in a remote working environment, have a strong attention to detail, and be able to manage their time well, while navigating a large organization.

  • Monitor key metrics and report on digital campaign performance
  • Crosscheck and align calendars for digital campaigns (email and text) across the team and cross-departmentally
