Description Delivers quality general/psychiatric nursing care to patients who are hospitalized for treatment of psychiatric or emotional disorders; to support the hospital and program philosophy of care; to ensure the safety and well-being of each patient. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES : Assesses/re-assesses by collecting and analyzing data through a systematic process of interaction with patients, patientâs significant other, and the appropriate health care providers regarding the patientâs physical, psychological, environmental, educational, spiritual, cultural, and anticipated discharge needs. Ability to perform suicide assessments and understands suicide precautions. Identifies and incorporates each patientâs unique needs into a comprehensive and individualized care plan. Identifies and includes into the care plan of each patient the disease, condition, impairment or disability. Evaluates each patientâs care against the goals and plan of care and revises the care plan periodically, as needed. Accurate and litigable documentation that meets current standards and policies. Treats and cares for patients competently and as based on current developmental theories and psychiatric nursing knowledge and standards. Understands a wide range of psychosocial, cognitive and/or developmental disorders and physical disabilities. Rounds on patients, ensuring patient care and environment that optimizes patient safety. Demonstrates knowledge of medication management to ensure patient care and reduce the likelihood of medical/health errors. Upholds the Organizationâs ethics and customer service standards. Requirements Education/Licensure: Current Nevada RN License required ADN / BSN or equivalent Current CPR certification CPI obtained within 60 days of hire Knowledge and Experience: Demonstrates sound leadership skills Ability to organize activities and schedules for medical and/or non-medical tasks for patients. Ability to stabilize acute psychotic and non-violent crises by using accepted intervention techniques. Basic knowledge of abnormal psychology as typically found in the adult/adolescent psychiatric population helpful Familiarity of psycho pharmacy and the use of psychotropic medications with child, adolescent or adult psychiatric population preferred. Skills and Abilities: Maintains confidentiality of patients at all times. Sensitivity and willingness to interact with persons of various social, cultural, economic and educational backgrounds. Working knowledge with software and/or equipment (Microsoft Office applications including Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint). Strong organizational skills with ability to prioritize projects, manage multiple tasks, and meet deadlines. Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to convey detail or important spoken instructions to others accurately. Strong clinical and interpersonal skills. Ability to work with people with a variety of background and educational levels. Ability to perceive detailed information through oral communication and to make fine discriminations in sound. Demonstrated commitment to working collaboratively as well as possessing the skills to lead, influence, train and motivate others. Facilitation of education oriented and didactic groups. Good judgment, problem solving and decision-making skills. Ability to work in a fast-paced, expanding organization. Physical Requirements : While performing the duties of this job, this position is frequently required to do the following: Stoop, kneel, crouch, reach, and stand for sustained period of time. Walk, push, pull, lift, carry objects from a lower to higher position or horizontally from position to position or otherwise move objects. Feel sizes, shapes, temperatures, and textures by touching with skin, particularly that of the fingertips. Express or exchange ideas orally and potentially loudly, accurately, or quickly. Hearing within normal hearing ranges. Lift up to 50 pounds, exert up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 30 pounds of force frequently. Minimum standard of visual acuity with or without correction. While worker may possibly be subjected to temperature changes, the worker is generally not substantially exposed to adverse environmental conditions as the work is predominantly inside.
