The Overview

The Instructional Technology Coordinator plays a critical role in supporting the technology infrastructure across our twenty schools.  The Instructional Technology Coordinator is responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining student and staff hardware devices, including but not limited to Chromebooks, laptops, iPads, projectors, and document cameras to ensure minimal disruption to teaching and learning across our schools.  In addition to hardware responsibilities, the Instructional Technology Coordinator will provide a key role in executing team projects. This team member will also oversee Chromebook repair workflow and support the SLA for the organization.  The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, technically skilled, and committed to providing best in class support to educators and role reports directly to the Manager of Support.

The Instructional Technology Coordinator will support in achieving 95% for Helpdesk Service Level Agreement (SLA)

The Instructional Technology Coordinator will be responsible for Chromebook repair and delivery
The Instructional Technology Coordinator will be responsible for achieving a rating of 4 or higher from internal stakeholders such as Assistant School Leaders of Operations for being a great thought partner. 
The Instructional Technology Coordinator will assist in managing device lifecycle and ensuring the integrity to the inventory management system.

Responsibilities: Support Services

    • Provide excellent first-response technical onsite and remote support to all KIPP SoCal Public Schools Team Members, including but not limited to troubleshooting software and hardware, printing, replacements/upgrades, data migration, Smartphone Support, Instructional Technology support, software installation, etc.
    • Responsible for safely transporting equipment to and from school sites 
    • Provide helpful and timely responses and resolutions to all helpdesk requests.

Responsibilities: Student and Team Member device Provisioning

    • Assist with provisioning and deploying all new Team Members and student technology devices, including Macbooks, Chromebooks, Windows PCs, Tablets, Cell and Desk phones, etc.
    • Perform computer imaging tasks, including image updates, one-off deployments, and yearly global refresh cycles.
    • Update and maintain the technology inventory database.

Responsibilities: Beginner System Administration

    • Basic administration of Google Apps for EDU domain (User account changes, Account creations, Suspensions, data transfers, Data validation maintenance)
    • Google OU Structure maintenance and clean-up.
    • BetterCloud SAS exposure (1-2 years preferred experience)  
    • Assist in monitoring and management of user backups
    • MDM Proficient and 1-3 years of exposure and experience (JAMF Pro preferred)

Responsibilities: Intermediate In-Classroom Technology Support

    • Support school-based Team members with technical questions and follow-through resolution
    • Eagerness to research and learn to solve complex technical problems 
    • Go above and beyond for KIPP SoCal Public School Team members regarding technical questions, hardware support, and in-classroom technology (Projectors, Apple TV, Document Camera, Smart Boards, etc.)

Responsibilities: Comprehensive Device Repairs

    • Conduct detailed assessments and repairs of Chromebooks, MacBooks, and handheld devices.
    • Troubleshoot issues and perform necessary fixes to hardware components and software configurations.
    • Apple Device Servicing: Utilize Apple's Global Service Exchange (GSX) to manage repairs, order parts, and maintain records for Apple products, ensuring compliance with Apple’s service standards and warranty requirements.
    • Chromebook Cart Maintenance: Manage and maintain Chromebook carts, including wiring organization, assessing functionality, and replacing parts to ensure devices are charged and ready for student use.
    • Device Lifecycle Management: Oversee the lifecycle of all technology devices from acquisition through disposal, ensuring devices remain up-to-date and functional during their service period

Qualifications

    • Preferred Associate’s degree in information technology, computer science, or related field (equivalent technical certification)
    • Preferred experience in a K–12 or educational environment.
    • 2+ years of experience in IT support, hardware maintenance, or a related technical role.
    • Familiarity with ticketing systems (e.g., Zendesk, Freshservice, or similar)
    • Proficiency in troubleshooting and supporting Windows, macOS, and ChromeOS devices
    • Experience with account management tools such as Active Directory, Google Workspace, or similar systems
    • Strong understanding of hardware components, peripherals, and classroom technologies
    • Excellent customer service and communication skills, especially with non-technical users
    • Ability to lift and transport equipment (up to 50 lbs) and perform hands-on technical work in classroom settings
    • Possesses a deep commitment to both racial and educational equity; supports the building of an organization that reflects the community KIPP serves; holds self and others on team accountable for centering equity
    • Firm commitment to being an active team member of a team culture of high expectations, support, inclusion, and continuous learning; comfort soliciting and incorporating feedback and ideas from team members at all levels
    • Solid written communication skills to explain complicated procedures and policies in writing
    • Willingness to travel between school sites across Southern California (current footprint: greater Los Angeles County and San Diego)
    • Physical Requirements - The usual and customary methods of performing the job’s functions require the following physical demands: Must be able to travel to regional office and school sites (greater Los Angeles county + San Diego) - valid driver’s license and dependable transportation needed

Benefits & Compensation

    • KIPP SoCal Public Schools offers a competitive hourly rate commensurate with experience in a similar position. The hourly rate range for this position is $21.72 - $32.57. New hires are typically brought into the organization at a salary between the range minimum and the salary range midpoint of $27.14 depending on qualifications, internal equity, and the budget allocated for this role.
