Title: Mechanical Drafter
Location: Virginia Beach, VA 
Job Type: Contract to Hire or Direct Hire (Depending on candidate fit/business need)
Pay rate: $27.00 - $0/Hour (Depending on Experience)

Drafter Responsibilities:

    • Handle complex designing and drafting assignments under minimal supervision.
    • Create drawings, models, and BOMs from written and verbal specifications obtained from Engineers.
    • Work with Engineers regarding model accuracy, design, drafting standards and design documentation.
    • Work closely with Engineers to ensure coordinated effort is maintained.
    • Complete project responsibilities within scope, budget and schedule.
    • Review drawings for completeness and accuracy.
    • Maintain all revisions of project drawings.
    • Develop 3D models by analyzing prototypes and 2D drawings.
    • Examine and check engineering drawings for compliance with cited specifications.
    • Provide timely technical assistance and solutions to the team.
    • Participate in project meetings and conference calls as required.
    • Prepare engineering documents for customer submittal.

Drafter Qualifications / Skills:

    • High proficiency in 3D parametric modeling software, SolidWorks preferred.
    • Ability to create 2D mechanical and structural drawings from 3D models.
    • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Applications
    • Ability to work under pressure with deadlines while having to multi-task multiple priorities.
    • Strong verbal and written communication skills
    • Attention to detail
    • Strong work ethic
    • Ability to work successfully and collaboratively with a team
    • Ability to read and understand blueprints

Education, Experience, and Licensing Requirements:

    • Associate degree in computer-aided drafting and design, engineering technology or similar technical degree
    • At least one year of experience
    • Knowledge of manufacturing processes and how it relates to design.
    • Hands on experience with 3D parametric modeling tools (SolidWorks, Inventor, Fusion 360, PTC Creo, etc.)
