But what we are really building is a better future for everyone we share the planet with.
With a 30GWh+ portfolio spanning APAC, the Americas, and the EU and a global team of over 200 - Should we slow down, or should the world catch up?
As a WHSE Specialist, you’ll be joining the team who enables core business operations by embedding health, safety, and environmental standards across all pillars, and all project phases. The team provides expertise in risk mitigation, compliance, technical specification, and management of high-risk activities. As a company, Akaysha’s view on safety is; every day, and in every way.
This role supports all project phases up to Operations, with a focus on refining processes to better enable Akaysha’s teams and deliver accurate HSE metrics. You’ll enhance the Contractor Management Framework by integrating the Assurance Program and establish a monthly assurance reporting cadence across all projects.
To effectively guide each stage of the project, you’ll collaborate with internal pillars including Development and Delivery, Engineering and Legal, Risk and Compliance alongside building external partnerships with Principal Contractors and OEMs.
Alongside regular, planned travel to sites in Central NSW, Queensland, and Victoria, the role will:
- Oversee contractor and supplier WHSE compliance, lead assurance activities to close-out, and monitor performance with escalation of non-compliance.
- Ensure environmental approval commitments are met across the project lifecycle by embedding EMS processes into project teams and managing environmental risks in collaboration with stakeholders.
- Embed Safe Systems of Work into project delivery, guide WHSE in design and risk, and promote Human & Organisational Performance (HOP).
- Drive WHSE improvements across project phases by managing reporting and streamlining processes to reduce duplication
Making an impact in this role will rely on experience across the following areas:
- Demonstrated strength in safety leadership, with the ability to promote a strong safety culture through proactive behaviours and a visible commitment to WHSE values.
- Hands-on experience in systems development, including the design, implementation, and maintenance of WHSE systems to support consistent compliance across all phases of a project.
- Solid regulatory knowledge, with the capability to interpret and apply WHSE legislation and standards to uphold compliance and maintain a safe working environment.
- Proven expertise in audit and assurance, with experience planning, conducting, and reporting on WHSE audits to verify performance and demonstrate due diligence.
- Strong understanding of principal contractor oversight, with the ability to manage WHSE obligations and stakeholder relationships during construction, ensuring alignment with legal and organisational requirements.
- Proficiency in digital tools, using platforms to manage WHSE data, reporting, and compliance workflows effectively.
This role provides the flexibility to be based at Akaysha’s offices in Melbourne (HQ), Sydney, or Brisbane, working in a hybrid or remote capacity within AU.
