About Ridwell
Ridwell is a service that inspires people to create a future without waste. Today, we make it easy to reuse and recycle by identifying recyclable and reusable items that the city doesn't collect, picking them up from our customers' doorsteps, and matching them with local partners that can use them sustainably. Our future plans go much further and include making zero waste a reality for millions.
As a B Corp-certified company, sustainability isn't just a company value—it's a fundamental part of our purpose and interests. Our mission is to empower communities to waste less, and every success our team celebrates means more waste saved from the landfill and more valuable donations in the hands of local non-profits.
About the Role
We are seeking a driven, versatile and detail-oriented creative to join our Marketing team as the lead designer. As the Lead Marketing Designer, you will own the visual language of the Ridwell brand and bring it to life via assets across all external (and some internal) channels – including email, social media, physical/printed collateral, web, and more – to further our mission of wasting less.
A true team player, you thrive in a fast-paced environment that requires you to straddle big-picture design thinking and hands-on, high-volume execution. You’ll collaborate closely with the brand and content team to develop visuals that align with marketing goals, uplevel the brand, and inspire action.
$75-80 per hour
Responsibilities
- Develop eye-catching and engaging visual assets for emails, paid ads, direct mail (print), and other marketing collateral
- Uphold our brand guidelines to ensure consistency across all touchpoints
- Work closely with the Senior Content Manager, copywriters, and other marketing team members to align visuals with campaign goals, facilitating design reviews and incorporating feedback
- Occasionally, step into the field to capture photos with an iPhone or other tools to support creative projects
- Prepare high-quality assets for print campaigns, ensuring all designs meet production specs and timelines
- Proactively bring fresh ideas to the table, exploring new styles, layouts, and design trends that align with our brand
Requirements
- 5-6 years of experience in visual or graphic design, preferably in a marketing or agency setting
- Available for 2-3 in-office days in Georgetown
- Portfolio demonstrating design capabilities and passion for compelling, novel approaches
- Proficient in the tools: Figma, Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, and other design software
- A good sense of current design trends, typography and aesthetics, channel best practices, complemented by traditional design principles such as typography, color, and layout
- A sharp eye for detail and a commitment to delivering polished professional designs
- Self-driven startup mindset: Possesses creative energy, confidence, and self-motivation to learn new tools quickly, work in a fast-paced, ever-evolving environment, and seek out new solutions and ideas
- Strong communication skills with the ability to explain design concepts and collaborate effectively
- Enthusiasm for design, creativity, and making a meaningful impact through your work
- Working knowledge or an interest in photography, video editing, and light animation is a plus
- A can-do attitude and a willingness to get scrappy, think outside the box
$75 - $80 an hour
The compensation range represents our best estimate, with the final offer subject to internal compensation benchmarks, candidate experience, and market data.
Role begins as a three-month contract with the potential to transition to a permanent position based on performance and business need.
