Purpose: Foundation Academies exists to close the opportunity gap for youth in our community of Trenton, NJ. Dismantling systemic injustice requires a strong team of highly talented people who have the skills, capacity and passion our scholars deserve.  As an after school program aide, you will provide support to a comprehensive suite of after school programming that enhance learning experiences beyond regular school hours. This position aims to create a dynamic and engaging learning environment that supports the holistic development of scholars to advance the organization's mission and goals.

Reports to: Program Manager

Term: Hourly (December-June)

Responsible: (Tasks you are responsible for. Tasks are subject to change) 

Youth Supervision

  • Under the guidance of the Program Manager, instructors will provide direct supervision to students 
  • Use of Positive framing and Tiered Support approach to creating a positive learning environment 
  • Travel with scholars for planned field trips and special events
  • Maintain positive environments where scholars follow expectations and procedures 
  • Ensure the school expectations and protocols are reflected in daily practice 
  • Ability to use good judgment and practical problem‐solving skills
  • Communicate with the parents as needed during program dismissal   
  • Maintain a safe environment for all scholars

Facilitation

  • Work with the Director of Operations and fellow Program Manager to ensure that program activities are intentional, fun, well-planned, and executed at a high level. 
  • Maintain professional and positive relationships with school staff, partners, scholars, and parents 
  • Create and manage a caring, supportive, purposeful, and engaging environment 
  • Responsible for all activity and room preparations for the after school program.  
  • Keep spaces neat and orderly
  • Support projects and initiatives as defined by the Director of Operations on an as-needed basis

Data Management

  •  Submission of required reports
  •  Maintain accurate attendance data and reports

  • 100% students accounted for each day
  • 100% students complete homework with your support

Consulted: (You should be deeply knowledgeable about the following. As a result, your input will be considered when overlapping decisions are made due to your expertise and brilliant perspective)

  • After school program schedules
  • Enrichment times and enrichment leads

Informed: (Ensure you are abreast on the influence of these systems on what you are accountable for)

  • Student Attendance
  • NJCCIS Requirements

Educational Background and Work Experience: 

  • Previous experience working with children, preferably in schools
  • Strong leadership and organizational skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Knowledge of educational best practices and child development principles.

Compensation: $20-$30 per hour
