Responsibilities
- Plan, schedule, and coordinate installations, upgrades, and service visits across customer sites.
- Lead deployments of Kargo’s hardware systems, working side-by-side with field technicians, contractors, and customer personnel.
- Review site surveys, evaluate mounting locations, identify power/network constraints, and document install requirements.
- Serve as the first technical responder for in-field issues, escalating to Hardware, Product, or Software teams as needed.
- Diagnose mechanical, electrical, optical, or network-related problems with devices and ensure timely resolution.
- Maintain and improve field reliability by identifying recurring issues and driving root-cause analyses.
- Collaborate with Sales, and Executive teams on timelines, readiness, and customer expectations.
- Coordinate with customers remotely and on-site to plan installation windows, schedule maintenance visits, and communicate status updates.
- Provide clear technical explanations, constraints, and requirements to customer facilities teams and IT organizations.
- Maintain detailed installation documentation, troubleshooting guides, and field playbooks.
- Track deployments, assets, issues, and resolutions using Jira (or similar tools).
- Continuously improve installation workflows, field diagnostics, and operational processes.
- Travel up to 50%, including short-notice trips.
- Ability to work non-standard hours (night shifts, weekends, holidays) when customer access or operational constraints require it.
- Comfort working in industrial environments (warehouses, docks, yards, cold storage, etc).
Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline (engineering, robotics, computer science, etc).
- 3+ years of experience supporting, deploying, or maintaining industrial equipment, robotics systems, vehicles, automation hardware, or similar.
- Experience tracking many different projects, assets, and issues at the same time.
- Strong communication and documentation skills for coordinating with contractors and communicating with customers.
- Strong hands-on troubleshooting skills across mechanical, electrical, and optical systems (experience in all three is preferred).
- Proficiency using command-line tools (Linux CLI, PowerShell, SSH, etc).
- Experience working in warehouse, factory, or industrial environments.
- Experience deploying networked IoT or computer vision systems in the field preferred.
- Experience with Jira or similar tools for tracking assets, issues, and installations preferred.
- Comfort working in early-stage startup environments with evolving tools and processes preferred.
