Our client is looking for a hands-on Technical Lead to guide their Hong Kong engineering team and shape the architecture behind their multi-currency payment and digital asset conversion platform. This role sits at the intersection of software engineering, compliance, and digital payments, and involves close collaboration with product, risk, and R&D teams across multiple regions.
What you will do:
- Lead and grow the HK engineering team, covering modules across payments, KYC, mobile transactions, and compliance.
- Define the technical architecture for a currency conversion flow that spans fiat, stablecoins, and cross-border settlements.
- Partner with overseas R&D teams to align on payment integrations, wallet connectivity, and settlement pipeline design.
- Ensure systems meet security, audit, and KYC/AML requirements while maintaining high performance and reliability.
- Drive the design and development of microservices ( / Go / Python) and ensure API gateways and backend services run smoothly.
- Work with compliance and finance stakeholders to build tools for transaction monitoring, liquidity management, and risk oversight.
- Coach engineers, lead code and architecture reviews, and champion agile and DevOps best practices.
- Explore and prototype new features in mobile and digital payments as part of the wider product ecosystem.
What you will need:
- Degree (Bachelor’s/Master’s) in Computer Science, Information Systems, FinTech, or related disciplines.
- 7–10 years of engineering experience, including 3+ years leading teams in fintech, payments, or cross-border transaction platforms.
- Strong delivery track record in FX flows, payment gateway integrations, remittance systems, or blockchain-to-fiat settlement.
- Comfortable with stablecoin/wallet work (), address whitelisting, and key management.
- Solid understanding of how cross-border payment infrastructure works end-to-end.
- Familiarity with regulatory frameworks such as FATF, HKMA, and VARA.
- Strong engineering fundamentals: Python / Go / ; exposure to React/Vue; strong with distributed systems, API design, concurrency, SQL/NoSQL, Kafka/RabbitMQ.
- Experience working with Web3 wallets, blockchain risk analysis, and tools like Chainalysis.
- Able to work effectively across cultural and geographical boundaries
- Fluent in English and Mandarin (Cantonese a plus).
