At Convergent Energy and Power, our mission is to make the electrical grid cleaner, more reliable, and less expensive by leveraging state-of-the-art energy storage and distributed generation technologies. As a member of the Sales department, the Associate, Business Development, is expected to bring in new opportunities to fuel a pipeline of energy storage and solar-plus storage projects for Convergent. This is an individual contributor role and therefore does not have any direct reports but will exercise informal mentorship and guidance to junior level staff. What You’ll Do Operational Influence and Industry Awareness (60%) o Identify and generate qualified leads in new energy storage and solar-plus-storage markets to support revenue targets. o Complete due diligence on potential opportunities by effectively mine organizations, maps, social networks and other publicly available resources to identify appropriate prospects. o Engage in daily outreach (cold calls, emails, LinkedIn messages, etc.) to find correct points of contact and convey Convergent’s value proposition over the phone and via email. o Stay current on Convergent, the competitive landscape, and energy market trends. o Monitor and report on outreach activity, lead generation, and opportunity pipeline to support data-driven decision-making. o Maintain relationships with prospects and early-stage clients to ensure timely follow-up and engagement. o Assist in preparing proposals, presentations, and other customer-facing materials to support the sales process. o Participate in ongoing learning and development opportunities to deepen industry knowledge and sales skills. o Keep our internal CRM up to date to reflect all call and contact details accurately. Collaboration and Leadership (40%) o Lead discovery calls with customers and shadow senior sales professionals and actively contribute to discovery, proposal, and contracting processes. Support the overall Convergent mission by assisting with other teams’ functions, including sales and marketing initiatives, including tradeshows, targeted campaigns and team/company trainings. Requirements o 1-2 years of relevant experience in sales, recruiting, or other customer-facing roles. o Prior experience and success selling to, presenting to, and persuading people. o Proficiency with Microsoft Suite including PowerPoint, Excel, Word, Teams, and Outlook. o Be a superior communicator – you’re an active listener with a high EQ. o Be organized – you pay attention to the details, take meticulous notes, and read the fine print. o Be a problem solver – you strive to be proactive in finding creative and unique solutions. o Willing to learn new material around distributed generation, energy markets, and electrical systems. o Alignment with Convergent’s mission, values and a strong interest in the Clean Energy Transition. o 15% travel expected, primarily for client meetings, team events, and company-wide meetings. Preferred Qualifications o Bachelor’s degree or other equivalent educational background. o Experience with Sandler Sales Training and CRM systems.
