The Grounds Person is responsible for maintaining and managing vegetation near utility infrastructure, such as power lines, pipelines, and roadsides, to ensure safety, prevent hazards, and enhance operational efficiency. This role focuses on the trimming, removal, and control of trees, shrubs, and other plant growth that may interfere with utilities or pose a risk of fire and accidents. Additionally, a vegetation management grounds person assists with inspections, equipment maintenance, and proper disposal of debris. 
What you will do:
- Gathers brush and feed brush into woodchipper.
- Applies chemical herbicide to right-of-way, following brush removal
- Utilizes hose and spray nozzle from truck mounted spray equipment which includes tank, pump, hose reel, 200 feet of ½ inch hose, or utilizessprayer to treat remote areas.
- Services truck, chipper, and equipment, maintaining them in neat, clean, and specified mechanical order.
- Operating the CMV, including preventing maintenance and upkeep of the equipment.
- Uses a chainsaw to cut brush, logs, and stumps of larger trees.
What we are looking for:
- Vegetation Management and/or Grounds Person experience is a plus
- Valid driver’s license is a required
- Reliable transportation to and from meet up locations.
- Must be able to operate and service all required tools and equipment, including chainsaws, chip truck, pruner.
- Ability to concentrate and maintain attention for extended periods of time.
- Able to consistently wear necessary PPE at all times
- Capable of effective communications and comprehension skills both verbally and in writing.
- Can work safely in a hazardous environment.
- Can work in environments where there is excessive noise from machines, chain saws, wood chipper, while utilizing the proper hearing protection.
- Can work in various temperatures and weather conditions being exposed to nature, i.e., dense vegetation which may include aggressive foliage, insects, seasonal plants etc.
- Ability to perform storm work as needed.
Work Conditions:
- Can work around hazardous equipment.
- Can work in environments where there is excessive noise from machines, chain saws, wood chipper, while utilizing the proper hearing protection.
- Can work in various temperatures and weather conditions being exposed to nature, i.e., dense vegetation which may include aggressive foliage, insects, seasonal plants etc.
- Can occasionally work on unleveled ground.
- With the proper PPE, will work around falling limbs.

$18 - $26 an hour
The actual base pay depends upon many factors, such as education, experience, and skills. The base pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future.
