Apply NowThe CG Generalist (CFX) will primarily design and implement high-quality Character Effects that align with the production’s schedule and the studio's creative vision. They may also be asked to model, texture, do basic rigging and animation work, create particle and dynamic FX, and light & render as required. The position requires artistic and technical skills and a willingness to learn new skills and techniques.
Sony Pictures Animation is a pre-production animation studio based in Los Angeles, California, creating both feature animation and animated series with artists from around the world. Responsibilities:
- Report to the Global VFX Supervisor
- Design, animate, and run Cloth and Hair simulations
- Modeling, Surface, basic FX skills, and some Rigging
- Research, Develop and implement New Techniques
Qualifications:
- Good understanding of a wide range of skills in Maya
- General skills in CFX sims
- Knowledge of current grooming packages (ie - Yeti) and cloth ( ie - Marvelous Designer)
- Experience in various areas of the pipeline including assets and effects
- Python scripting abilities are a bonus
- USD knowledge (willingness to learn is a bonus as well)
- Unreal Engine skills (willingness to learn is a bonus as well)
The anticipated base salary for this position is $45/hour to $75/hour. This role qualifies for benefits pursuant to the collective bargaining agreement. The actual salary offered will depend on a variety of factors.
