Description About Atria: Atria is seeking a Laboratory Manager to support enterprise laboratory operations from our in-office laboratory in Manhattan. Under the direction of the Director of Laboratory Operations, this position will oversee the collection, processing, and testing of in-office orders of waived and moderate complexity assays, interaction with partner labs for send-out of high complexity testing, management of a team of laboratory personnel, and maintenance of the laboratory with a focus on compliance and safety. The position is on-site during business hours on weekdays with occasional need for additional coverage or travel due to clinical and business needs. We are looking for an energetic and motivated leader with a passion for quality, continual improvement, and delivering exceptional clinical care. Experience: Minimum of 7 years in a high complexity clinical laboratory with experience in Hematology and Chemistry required. Experience with waived and moderate laboratory operations is desired. The ideal candidate has experience with phlebotomy and patient facing care as well as high-throughput reference laboratory operations. Key Responsibilities Laboratory: Provide day-to-day technical and regulatory oversight of the laboratory. Supervise all laboratory testing personnel, ensuring proper training and competency for all moderate complexity tests authorized by the laboratory director. Maintain and employ the quality control program. Resolve technical problems and ensure corrective actions are taken. Identify training needs and ensure regular in-service training for testing personnel. Prepare samples and perform waived and moderate complexity testing. Oversee the performance and calibration of all laboratory instrumentation and ensure proper maintenance and servicing is completed. Regulatory: Ensure compliance with CLIA and NYS DoH regulations and standards. Ensure that testing systems and instruments are operating within acceptable performance specifications. Creates evidence of compliance for all aspects of operation including new instrument/assay verification/validation; creation of procedures, policies, forms, and logs; works with other stakeholders to provide transparency and auditability of the data produced during operation of the laboratory. Operations: Oversee a team of Medical Assistants, Licensed Practical Nurses, and other Laboratory personnel to collect, prepare, and submit testing to external partner labs, operate the in-office lab, and to support the clinical practitioners. Conduct performance reviews, provide feedback, and handle all disciplinary actions in a fair and consistent manner. Manage staff schedules to ensure adequate coverage for testing and operational needs. Maintain inventory and interact with purchasing and finance as needed to provide insight on utilization of consumables and services. Partner with the Clinical teams to provide feedback on the selection of tests, quality of sample submissions, and the timing of operations/logistics to ensure that the best testing is performed and to minimize errors. Monitor workload and identify opportunities for continuous quality improvement (CQI) to improve efficiency and accuracy Perform other position-related duties as assigned, including some administrative tasks as needed. Compensation: Salary: $120,000 - $140,000 Requirements Extensive documentation experience, including maintenance of records, the creation of forms and documents to support operations, and a record of review/audit experience. Practiced and successful history of problem resolution through Root Cause Analysis (RCA), Corrective and Preventive Actions (CAPA), and Change Management. Demonstrable capabilities as a bench tech in Hematology and Chemistry. Deep understanding of test orders, requisitions, specimen preparation, accessioning, and data flows from LIMS to EMR. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Qualifications: Current NYS CLT license is required or able to be obtained. Certification with ASCP or similar is preferred. Bachelor's degree in Biological or Chemical sciences, Clinical Science, or related field. At least 7 years of experience in a CLIA certified high complexity testing laboratory.
