The MJ Companies is seeking a strategic and dynamic Associate Director of Analytics to lead and oversee a high-performing analytics team. This role focuses on guiding a team of Analysts and Senior Analysts to deliver actionable insights, enhance operational processes, and develop innovative tools to meet evolving client needs. The Associate Director of Analytics will play a pivotal role in team development, fostering collaboration across offices, and maintaining relationships with clients and vendors. The ideal candidate thrives on leadership, has a proven track record in analytics, and excels at driving team and business success.
Essential functions
- Familiar with modeling techniques and statistics used to recognize trends and patterns in the data, and have used this knowledge to draw meaningful conclusions and develop actionable analyses that drive business decisions
- Extrapolates and interprets data, performs statistical analysis, forecasting, and trending while developing and leveraging actionable analyses to support key client initiatives
- Ability to work with internal and external customers on business problems, developing and maintaining ongoing relationships, and can proactively identify new opportunities through research and analysis
- Be outcome-oriented, self-starting, analytical thinker, able to leverage creative thinking and innovation to deal with uncertain, often messy, data and ambiguous or complex business challenges
- Ability to present analysis and recommendations in a clear and concise manner to C-Level executives
- Drive enhancements to existing reporting such as automation, trending, and visualization.
- Development and automation of professional-level reports and models using a variety of visualization tools and techniques
- Motivate, mentor, develop and direct a team of analysts
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Data Science, Economics, Finance, Business Administration (with a focus on analytics), Computer Science, Engineering, Actuarial Science, Risk Management, or a related business discipline (preferred)
- Life & Health License (required upon hire)
Knowledge & Experience
- 7+ years of experience in analytics, with at least 3 years in a leadership role.
- Proven success in managing a team and delivering data-driven strategies.
- Prior experience in health insurance analytics is preferred.
- Strong track record in cross-functional collaboration and tool development.
- Proficiency in common analytical tools and software, such as: Microsoft Excel (advanced functions like pivot tables, VLOOKUP, etc.), Data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI),
- Basic experience with statistical or programming languages like Python, R, or SQL is a plus.
- Experience in problem-solving and interpreting data to draw actionable insights.
Technical Functions
- Advanced proficiency in Excel, including macros and complex formulas.
- Experience with data mining and analytical tools (e.g., Access, SQL, SAS, SPSS, R, Python).
- Expertise in business intelligence tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI, Qlik) for visualization and reporting.
- Familiarity with statistical methods and modeling techniques (e.g., regression, cluster analysis).
- Ability to manage and enhance databases and tools for analytics and reporting.
This compensation range is specific to the State of Colorado and takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets; experience and training; licensure and certifications; and delivery model. In addition to your salary, The MJ Companies offers benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, performance based incentives, and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). An estimated base salary range is $100,000-$130,000.
