Start Date: January 16, 2026 J ob Description: The Visiting Professor of Childhood Education/Special Education is a full member of the School of Education for Spring 2026 . This faculty role includes teaching a mix of online graduate courses and in-person undergraduate courses, as well as supporting student teaching coordination. The Visiting Professor must demonstrate a strong commitment to serving diverse groups of graduate students and possess up-to-date knowledge in childhood and special education. Key areas include assessment and evaluation, collaboration with professionals and diverse families/communities, inclusive practices, effective instructional methods, and interventions such as positive behavioral approaches. Knowledge of federal, state, and NYC education laws and policies is also essential. The role requires effective collaboration with full-time and adjunct faculty, partner representatives, and agency personnel. Responsibilities: Teach graduate coursework in childhood education and/or special education, both on campus and online. Assist the Clinical Placement Director with student teaching coordination. Attend and participate in regular School of Education faculty meetings. Attend monthly general faculty meetings. Support the School of Educationâs AAQEP and Middle States accreditation processes by submitting and reviewing assessment data to support ongoing program improvement. Perform other duties as assigned. Requirements Doctoral degree in Special Education or Childhood Education; ABD will be considered. Minimum of 3 years of teaching experience in childhood education and/or special education. Knowledge of federal, state, and NYC statutes, policies, and practices related to childhood and special education. Familiarity with current research and evidence-based practices in childhood and special education. Experience teaching in higher education through online and hybrid formats.
