Share this job SVGs not supported by this browser. Description Granite State Manufacturing (GSM) is seeking skilled Class B Welders to join our precision fabrication team on first shift. This position is ideal for welders with prior experience in defense or high-specification fabrication who are developing toward full NAVSEA 1688 or EB-5341 certification. You’ll contribute directly to the U.S. Navy submarine program and other advanced defense manufacturing initiatives. About the Opportunity As a Class B Welder, you’ll perform production and intermediate-level welds under the direction of senior welders and supervision. GSM utilizes GTAW (TIG), SMAW (Stick), and GMAW (MIG) processes on materials such as stainless steel, HY-80/100, and other defense-grade alloys. You’ll work from detailed drawings and weld symbols, perform fit-ups and welds that meet internal GSM quality standards, and support production flow in accordance with the schedule (IAW schedule) to maintain throughput and compliance with customer requirements. Key Responsibilities Perform structural and precision welds using GTAW, SMAW, and GMAW processes. Prepare joints, align components, and verify fit-up prior to welding. Follow established WPS/PQRs and ensure proper heat control, interpass cleaning, and documentation. Support and assist in welding to NAVSEA 1688 and EB-5341 standards under supervision. Read and interpret blueprints, weld symbols, and job routers. Collaborate with Quality and Supervision to execute work IAW production schedule. Maintain equipment, consumables, and work areas consistent with 5S and safety standards. Participate in ongoing training and certification activities to progress toward Class A status. Requirements Qualifications 2–5 years of welding experience in a fabrication or manufacturing environment. Familiarity with NAVSEA, AWS D1.1, or similar high-integrity standards. Proficiency in at least one major process: GTAW, SMAW, or GMAW. Ability to read blueprints, interpret weld symbols, and follow process instructions. Solid understanding of joint prep, tacking, and distortion control. Strong commitment to safety, quality, and teamwork. Motivation to advance to Class A Welder certification.
