COMPANY OVERVIEW:

Disc Medicine is a clinical-stage biopharmaceutical company committed to discovering, developing, and commercializing novel treatments for patients who suffer from serious hematologic diseases. We are building a portfolio of innovative, first-in-class therapeutic candidates that aim to address a wide spectrum of hematologic diseases by targeting fundamental biological pathways of red blood cell biology, specifically heme biosynthesis and iron homeostasis. Disc Medicine values collaboration, professional development, and scientific integrity and promotes an inclusive company culture that empowers and inspires.

POSITION OVERVIEW:

Reporting to our SVP of Corporate Finance, the Associate Director, Revenue Management & Government Pricing will own the revenue accounting and Gross‑to‑Net (GTN) process and to lead our outsourced service providers across revenue accounting, chargebacks/rebates, government pricing, and price transparency reporting. This individual will be the company’s internal expert on US revenue recognition (ASC 606), GTN forecasting and true‑ups, and federal/state pricing and transparency obligations (Medicaid/340B/VA and state drug price transparency laws). This is a build-and-scale role—ideal for a hands‑on leader who can design processes, implement controls, and partner cross‑functionally with Market Access, Commercial, Supply Chain, Legal, and FP&A to ensure compliant, accurate, and timely results.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Own the Revenue & GTN Cycle

  • Own end‑to‑end revenue recognition and reporting under US GAAP (ASC 606), including variable consideration estimation, roll‑forwards, and revenue analytics.
  • Lead the monthly close for US product revenue: review/approve journal entries, accruals, reconciliations, and flux analyses driving on‑time and right‑first‑time results.
  • Build and maintain the GTN waterfall: working with our 3rd party partner to design methodologies, set assumptions, monitor drivers (chargebacks, rebates, returns, price protection, copay, admin fees), and manage true‑ups.

Manage Outsourced Providers (Primary Day‑to‑Day Leader)

  • Serve as business owner for third‑party service providers (3PL, chargebacks/rebates processor, government pricing vendor, price transparency reporting partner, data aggregator).
  • Set SLAs/KPIs, chair weekly operational reviews, resolve exceptions, and ensure data integrity across EDI (852/867), wholesaler data, and ERP/finance systems.
  • Evaluate vendor performance, escalate issues, and drive continuous improvement and automation.

Government Pricing & Price Transparency Compliance

  • Oversee (via vendor) all federal and state pricing programs: MDRP/Medicaid (AMP/Best Price, DDR), 340B (ceiling price), VA/FSS (NFAMP/FCP), Medicare Part B, TriCare, and state drug price transparency filings (e.g., WAC launch and price‑increase reporting).
  • Govern contract & pricing data: class‑of‑trade, customer eligibility, price lists/WAC, wholesaler admin fees, and distributor agreements ensuring compliant data lineage and documentation.
  • Partner with Legal/Market Access on payer and channel contracts.
  • Own the annual methodology documentation, governance calendar, SOPs, and change controls.

Order‑to‑Cash & Trade Operations Oversight

  • Oversee order‑to‑cash in partnership with 3PL/wholesalers (order management, invoicing, cash application, deductions, short‑pays).
  • Ensure robust chargeback/ rebate adjudication and dispute resolution with distributors, GPOs, PBMs, and payers.
  • Design key controls (SOX 404), segregation of duties, and data reconciliations across ERP, 3PL portal, and pricing systems.

Cross‑Functional Partnership

  • Own GTN inputs working with our service provider to translate market dynamics (payer mix, utilization, formulary wins/losses, copay trends, returns) into forecast assumptions.
  • Provide clear, decision enabling insights to senior leadership running scenario analyses and sensitivities around price, mix, and channel.
  • Support external reporting and quarterly/annual audits.

 REQUIREMENTS:

  • CPA preferred, Bachelor’s in Accounting/Finance/Economics required.
  • 10 – 12 years of progressive experience in biopharma revenue accounting and government pricing (launch and in‑market experience strongly preferred).
  • Deep working knowledge of ASC 606, GTN methodologies, and SOX internal controls.
  • Hands‑on leadership managing outsourced providers (3PL, chargebacks/rebates, government pricing, transparency reporting) with measurable SLA/KPI outcomes.
  • Practical expertise across Medicaid/340B/VA calculations and submissions, DDR processes, and state drug price transparency obligations.
  • Strong technical accounting and policy/SOP writing.
  • Advanced Excel skills, familiarity with NetSuite (or similar ERP)
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management, thrives in a fast‑moving, first‑launch environment with high ownership.
  • Strong technical expertise, communication skills and good judgement to provide executives with an objective and independent point of view on broader business issues.
  • Demonstrated track record of being a part of a team of high performing finance professionals. Leads by example, possesses a strong work ethic and is collaborative. Hands-on approach and proven ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines.
  • Strong learning agility. Enjoys and excels in managing strategic business challenges and issues, incorporating the newest ideas, technologies, and approaches to business. Demonstrate a high level of emotional intelligence and self-awareness.
