About Seton College : Seton College is a new two-year college division of UMSV that will offer an associateâs degree for 100 students that have been historically underserved, who may require additional academic support, and who are motivated for post-secondary success annually beginning in the 2024â25 academic year. The programâs goal is to prepare students to enroll in a bachelorâs degree program or to begin their professional careers. Course Description: French 101: An introduction to the four basic language skillsâlistening, speaking, reading and writingâwith emphasis on speaking and comprehending spoken French. The course also provides an introduction to the culture of French-speaking peoples. A two-semester course sequence. For students with little or no background in French, or with a maximum of two years of high school French. Responsibilities: Adjunct faculty will be responsible for classroom management, designing and teaching engaging class activities, and holding office hours with students. Teach 3â6 credits in area of expertise using evidence-based practices that support first-generation student success Provide students with an up-to-date syllabus and clear course expectations Create an engaging, inclusive classroom environment that fosters learning and academic excellence Participate in professional development and contribute to a collaborative teaching community Maintain regular on-campus office hours to support and advise students Requirements Requirements Masterâs degree in the subject area required; doctorate preferred Demonstrated enthusiasm for undergraduate teaching and use of active-learning pedagogy Commitment to engaging students beyond the classroom experience Willingness to continuously improve teaching practices and collaborate within a learning community Strong commitment to serving a diverse student population, including underserved, minority, and first-generation college students Student-centered philosophy aligned with the mission of the University of Mount Saint Vincent to educate the whole person Excellent interpersonal, communication, writing, and presentation skills Strong organizational skills with keen attention to detail Proactive and creative approach to problem-solving Experience working with HEOP students is highly encouraged Benefits The allotted salary for this position is $1,000 per credit Apply for this job
