About the project We’re inviting experienced mathematicians to design computationally intensive problems that evaluate and enhance AI reasoning in science and engineering contexts. Your work will help train models to handle complex, multi-step challenges that mirror real-world research and analytical workflows. This is a project-based freelance opportunity. What you'll do Design original computational mathematics problems that simulate real mathematical research workflows. Create problems requiring Python programming to solve (using numpy, scipy, sympy). Ensure problems are computationally intensive and cannot be solved manually within reasonable timeframes (days/weeks). Develop problems requiring non-trivial reasoning chains in areas like number theory, combinatorics, graph theory, and numerical analysis. Base problems on real research challenges or practical applications from mathematical practice. Verify solutions using Python with standard mathematical libraries. Document problem statements clearly and provide verified correct answers. Problem domains (Examples) Number Theory: Prime factorization, Diophantine equations, modular arithmetic, cryptographic computations. Combinatorics: Enumerations, partitions, generating functions, combinatorial optimization. Graph Theory: Network analysis, path finding, graph coloring, spanning trees. Numerical Analysis: Root finding, numerical integration, differential equations, matrix computations. Discrete Mathematics: Recurrence relations, algorithmic complexity, discrete optimization. Algebra: Polynomial computations, group theory calculations, matrix decompositions. Requirements Education & Experience PhD or Master's degree in Mathematics (Pure or Applied). Research experience in computational or applied mathematics. Publications or projects involving computational problem-solving. Technical Skills Expert-level mathematical knowledge across multiple subfields. Strong programming skills in Python (numpy, scipy, sympy, networkx). Experience with numerical methods and symbolic computation. Familiarity with computational complexity theory. Professional Skills Ability to design problems that mirror real mathematical research workflows. Creative thinking in problem design across diverse mathematical areas. Understanding of what makes problems computationally challenging. Attention to detail for answer verification. Clear mathematical writing skills. Proficient in English (C1 and higher).
