Description This position, housed in the Center for Advising and Career Services (CACS), supports programming and services that advance the teamâs mission to enhance studentsâ professional development, career readiness, and employment outcomes. This position is compensated at the Level A rate on the MIIS student wage scale: $16.50 - $17.00 per hour. Core Responsibilities ââDeliver excellent customer service and create a welcoming environment for Middlebury Institute students, staff, and faculty visiting the Center, including prospective students and employer representatives. âRespond to inquiries via phone and email in a professional and efficient manner; convey general student information and refer students to appropriate advisor or contact. âSupport CACS Associate Dean and advisors on a range of projects contributing to student success, including employer relations, career management classes, information sessions, and career fairs. âUpdate Handshake: post jobs, publish events, resources, announcements, and troubleshoot login issues. âPartner with CACS advisors to write and compile student newsletters and plan events. âPromote and coordinate CACS events, including flyer creation, digital signs, newsletters, room reservations, etc. âInterest in training to serve as a peer career advisor, individually and in groups, to provide general guidance on resume writing, interviewing, and other foundational career management skills. âResearch alumni employment outcomes and career trends. âProvide general support including word processing, data entry, database management, social media, etc. âDocument workflow and help cross-train new graduate assistants. Requirements Position Prerequisites ââWell-organized and capable of managing multiple projects. âWillingness to provide and maintain a high quality of customer service to students, staff, and faculty. âStrong communication skills â editing, writing and event promotions. âAbility to maintain confidentiality. âExperience coordinating and liaising among diverse groups. âComfort with technology: proficient knowledge of Microsoft and Google. âTeam oriented and positive attitude. Physical Demands & Working Conditions Position requires light to moderate physical effort Periodic handling of lightweight parcels or supplies Ability to work at a computer keyboard for extended periods of time Student Employment Eligibility Unless restricted by certain visa status, all students with an active status for the semester are eligible for jobs on campus. Students on leave or withdrawn are not eligible to work in student employment positions until the semester in which they return. If you are currently withdrawn or on leave you are eligible to be employed in staff positions. Some may be restricted due to financial aid status. International students (non-resident aliens) may not work off campus unless they have applied for and received work authorization from the United States government. (An F-1 visa does not give work authorization.) Off campus work study positions are available only to U.S. citizens on financial aid with a federal work study component. Students are not eligible to work remotely from International locations. Hour Limitations All student employees are limited to working no more than 20 hours per week in on campus jobs during the academic year (this includes exam periods). The only exception is when there is a full week when school is not in session. Specifically: February recess, Spring recess, and full weeks of December or summer recess. During these time periods only, students can work up to 40 hours per week.
